Dr. Naresh Kumar Vats

Professor of Law

Prof. (Dr.) Naresh Kumar Vats, Professor of Law at Maharashtra National Law University Nagpur, is teaching Intellectual Property Laws, Cyber Law and Family Law, Commercial Arbitration Mechanism,has joined on November 25, 2016.He did Ph.D. and LL.M. from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and LL.B. from Barkatullaha Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal. He has passed UGC (NET) Law in Dec 2003. He has also obtained M.B.A. (HR) and PGDPM and Labour Welfare and Interpretership Diploma in (Sinhala) foreign language.

Professor Vatshas also taught at National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam and Institute of Law, Kurukshetra University, Kuruksehtra, BGC Trust University Bangladesh, Chittagong-Bangladesh, Institute of Law and Research (formerly National Institute of Law) Faridabad, Haryana. He had also delivered Special Lectures on Taxation and Business Law in MBA courseand Refresher Course in Kurukshetra University. He has 30 research papers in his credit published in country’s reputed Law Journals; presented more than30 research papers in out of which 09 International and 21 National Conferences/Seminars and Workshops.He has successfully supervised 59LL.M. dissertations at Kurukshetra Universityand National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam and Maharashtra National Law University, Nagpur. He has also evaluated 06 Ph.D. Thesis, 50 LL.M. Dissertations and reviewed 11research paper of Journal of South Asian Studiesand Beijing Law Review. He has also releasedFour Volumes andfive issues of NLUA Law & Policy Review Vol.1 No. I, Vol.1 No. II 2015 and Vol 2 No. I 2016 at National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam as an Editor and Vol. 1 No.1 2017 and Vol. 2 No. I 2018 of Contemporary Law Review, MNLU, Nagpur. He is also the Edited a book as co-author titled “LAW, JUDICIARY AND GOVERNANCE” in February 2017, published by Universal Publications, LexisNexis-Gurgaon, Haryana, India ISBN-978-93-5035-983-9.

Professor Vats also worked in various capacities i.e. as Sr. Assistant Professor, Convener-Admission, Placement & Training, Discipline, IQAC, Superintendent Examination and Warden at Kurukshetra University, since July 24, 2005; asAssociate Professor and Chairman Department of Law, BGC Trust University Bangladesh from 09/07/2012 to 08/07/2013 and as Head-Center for IPR Studies, Convener-Examination, Chief Warden (Boys) Hostel, Public Information Officer, Convener-Exam and Result Moderation, Faculty i/c -Hostel & Campus Welfare, Member of Academic Council, Ph.D. Research Committee, Clinical Legal Aid, Anti-Ragging, Faculty Co-ordinator of Internship at NLUJAA from April 2015 to November 2016 and presently as HoD, Chairman-Center for Postgraduate Legal Studies, Head-Center for IPR and Proctor at MNLU, Nagpur. He has also acted as Co-organizing Secretary of National Seminar and campus of Rural Lok Adalat and Legal Aid Clinic, Coordinator of WIPO-India Summer School 2017 between WIPO-Geneva, RGNIIPM, Nagpur and MNLU, Nagpur, and will be hosting WIPO-India Summer School 2018 in the Month of July 2018.

Professor Vats has got appreciation by Vice-Chancellor, BGCTUB and Director of Environment, Bangladesh. He has been honoured by Babu Jagjivan Ram Kala Sanskriti and Sahitya Academy Delhi for his literary work for the benefit of poor and needy persons of society.
